I ignored it because I don’t have any context for the north (I notice you say you were born in New York but raised in the south so I admit I’m curious about yours). The idea of beating my kids (I have two) is so utterly repulsive to me that I usually can’t let “just beat your kids” slide. Do you have any kind of evidence based information about whether beating actually makes better and more respectful people…or is this just a “from the gut” thing? 

Also, I’m in the south and I wasn’t physically disciplined (by my grandma), nor are my kids so…I guess that’s another reason I disregarded the “northern” thing.

  2. cookiecatcrumbs said: the studies are pretty damn conclusive that viollence isn’t the best or most effective teaching method by a long shot. I’ve no idea why people persist with the notion that it is.
